Apr 26: beautiful high school session… calgary photography

4 Sparkly Comments

I had posted a few images of this gorgeous girl from her High School graduation photography session awhile back but wanted to post just a few more now that I have completed the editing.

I have fallen in love with these sessions and am looking forward to more in the next few weeks.

When I asked her which one word described her- she said “happy”. She is always happy, smiling, and upbeat! A total pleasure to be around. I realize that I have her looking rather serious in these shots- but we did manage to goof around and get lots of fun and crazy shots too. Thanks so much for a great time M!

Apr 20: i believe in miracles- calgary maternity photography

I have absolutely loved watching my sister-in-law (I prefer just plain old sister)  on her journey to becoming a mom again. She is such a wonderful mom (and auntie!) that any child would be lucky to have her watching over them. As luck would have it, two more little angels are joining their family :) :)

I used to use the word “miracle” lightly. It’s a sacred word that I didn’t feel comfortable throwing around. But I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, that is exactly what these little babies are. They beat a lot of odds to get here and so far everything has gone amazingly well.

We did maternity pictures a few months back while we were in Vegas and thought we should do it again to see the progress these little ones are making. As you can see, she is expecting a boy and  a girl! How exciting is that? They will be joining their older brother Grayson pretty soon. He and my son were due on the exact same day so they are pretty much twinners themselves.

I watch my sister with so much admiration. She has not complained but rather just feels grateful for her good health, her pregnancy, and most of all- the miracle that it is. When finding out that they would be going from one child to three- my brother declared, “we’re back in the game”!

We are now anxiously awaiting the safe arrival of these babies. Of course I am itching with anticipation to meet them and of course shoot their newborn session!

I am so proud of you Kelly. These are lucky little babies to get you as their mom.

For as long as I can remember, I have been addicted to memories. Making them. Sharing them. Recalling them.

I feel fanatical about documenting moments. These things coupled with the love for my own family has led me on this very rewarding journey of photography.

Not only do I feel the need to capture this  for myself, but I NEED others to have these memories as well.

I am a firm believer in the only way to never forget is to always remember. I love to have albums and pictures to look back on so that I will always remember. Smiles. Laughter. Life. Love. I don’t want to forget a minute of it.

I feel that in the past year especially, I have discovered who I am as it relates to photography. I have found my style and my way of  communicating emotion through imagery.

Because of this, I felt it was time to get a custom blogsite to express this. My friend Christine of Pobke Photography had just launched her new blog and website and was happy to share the name of her designer with me. Renee from Ribbons Of Red has been the most amazing person to work with! Her talent is unmatched. She has had so many wonderful ideas and has let me play a part in the creative process. I cannot thank her enough for her patience, help, advice, and humor!

I also have to thank my family. They have helped me along with proof reading, image selection and a whole lot of patience! Especially my husband who has been so understanding of my late nights and many hours on the computer.

And since I’m thanking people, I have to mention my good friend Rebecca Mudrick of Darling Art Photography. We began our photography journey together about 11 years ago while both of our husbands were in school. She runs the most amazing business and creates such pure, clean, and beautiful work. She has helped me out along the way answering many questions, emails, phone calls and even my bribes to get her to come and visit. More than any photography advice though, I have been very grateful for her constant friendship.

Please check it out and feel free to contact me anytime!

Come back and visit often :)

Much love, Julie
