Jul 16: 25 Random things about me- calgary photography

4 Sparkly Comments

So, I know this has nothing to do with photography but I’ve been thinking about doing a post like this for awhile. I figure it will either help people get to know me a little better and they’ll feel more comfortable with me or, it will completely scare them away!

Here, are 25 things you may not know about me:

1. I am constantly checking out peoples feet. I don’t generally like feet but I’m still interested in looking at them.

2. When I am pregnant, I do this thing my family likes to call the “laugh-cry”. I’ll start crying if I see something touching or sad, and then I’ll start laughing because I know how silly the crying is. Then, I’ll let out a loud screaming moan, and start crying again. Good thing I am done having kids :)

3. I am deathly afraid of heights. It is getting worse the older I get.

4. I dream of being on Family Feud. I love watching it and almost always get the #1 answer.

5. I have always wanted to build a huge bed that would take up an entire room so my family could all jump in and watch movies. I don’t like sleeping with everyone in the bed, but snuggling in a pile is the best. Funny enough, I just read that Angelina Jolie wants the same thing. Thought I was the only crazy one. On a side note, since I was little we have called this “nesting”. We used to get a ton of blankets and pillows on the floor and everyone just got cozy somewhere. Like a nest- get it? I guess the big oversized bed would be a glorified nest.

6. I pray several times a day. My nine year old son is the self proclaimed “prayer nazi”. His teacher at school suggested he call himself the “prayer moderator” instead. haha Anyway, there is no way anyone is going to bed without praying with him around. I love it!

7. I lived in a house with a funeral home attached onto it until I was almost 8. The embalming room was right off of the family room. Dead bodies were  a regular site in my house. Ever seen the movie “My Girl”? That was me.

8. I eat chocolate every single day.

9. As disgusting as it may be, I am addicted to sunflower seeds. I know- so gross.

10. I worked as a dental assistant until I had my first kid at 22. (Almost died during the birth of that first baby.)

11. My husband and I dated for 4 months before getting engaged. We were married 4 months after that. I was 19. This August we will have been married for 14 years. How old am I now? Do the math!

12. I believe in miracles.

13. I REALLY want a live in masseuse, chef, and housekeeper. Who doesn’t though?

14. When I was 12, I played on an all boys football league. That was pretty short lived.

15. I love reality TV amongst other shows. Seems I don’t get a lot of time for many of them anymore though. I usually start working about 9pm and finish up anywhere between midnight and 2am. All in an effort to keep my full time job as mom during the day! I do reserve a few nights per week to just hang with my awesome hubbie though and we always go on a date at least once a week.

16. I never seem to worry. I don’t see the point in it. Lucky me.

17. I am shy in large groups of people yet enjoy conversation with strangers. Everyone has a story to tell!

18. I go to movies all the time. Usually every weekend. I am bound to fall asleep at some point though in about 90% of the movies I see.

19. Piles, stacks, clutter, and messes make me feel like my life is falling apart. Therefore, I don’t usually deal with chaos very well.

20. Family is my life!

21. The older I get, the more things I try.

22. I am usually 5 mins late for everything. I hate that about myself.

23. I am not a very good book keeper. Something I’d love to change.

24. I get mad when I’m cold. I love to be hot! I have about 5 baths a week.

25. I feel blessed.

Jul 14: banff wedding- calgary photography

5 Sparkly Comments

What a celebration this wedding was!

Every detail was attended to, everyone was emotional and happy, and the bride and groom were so in love it made my heart want to burst :)

I was happy when Terence Law asked me to shoot this wedding with him. Banff is so gorgeous and Terence is so professional and talented that I had to say yes!

It was during this wedding that I realized how valuable a wedding planner truly is. Terra Law of Inspired Occasions made sure that this whole day went off without a hitch! I sat in awe as I watched her orchestrate each event. She and her team were so organized and helpful. The bride and groom’s families were able to celebrate the day with them instead of running around trying to keep the wedding afloat.

If you are a follower on my jewelimage facebook page, you will already know this but just in case, here it is!

I was so ecstatic when Seattle’s amazing fashion and teen photographer, Michelle Moore decided to feature my most recent High School graduate session on her Salt&Prep teen fashion blog. I have been an admirer of Michelle’s for quite some time now. She is a complete genius when it comes to teen fashion and photography. It is evident by her images that her seniors have an absolute blast with her. Her images are A-MA-ZING!! Definitely check her out. The Salt&Prep blog is a great place to go for fashion ideas as well. There are links to so many cool places with the latest trends.

If you are a teen going into grade 12- you HAVE to do yourself a favour and do a custom photo shoot. They are so much fun and I’m sure something that you will look back on for the rest of your life!

These teen sessions are fun for any age as well. If you have a group of friends and want to try a “concept” shoot then please feel free to contact me as well.
