It was so much fun photographing these three friends who just graduated high school. We had tried and tried to meet up during the summer but busy schedules and lots of rain kept us waiting. These girls were such great sports to shoot in the freeeeezzing cold!

I absolutely love photographing teens. They are so much fun, so open, and so darn beautiful.

So, here is the end of our first day. We were almost at our first destination which is something I can’t wait to blog about! We were lucky enough to drive straight into a full moon and a beautiful sunset.

That is exactly what I decided to do! Get outta town. With the anxiety of a summer almost over, I decided to head out on one more adventure with my kids.

For many years, I have wanted to revisit the town that I was born in. I moved from there when I was 7 and have never been back. That is 26 years!!

The town is Rosthern,Saskatchewan. It is located about 40 mins north of Saskatoon. My parents had moved there to run a funeral home and ambulance service. The first 7 years of my life were filled with adventure. We left early in the morning, played all day, and returned when it was dark. If my parents wanted to find me they just drove up and down the streets and looked for our pet wiener dog named “Beans” who would wait outside of whichever house we happened to be in.

My sister, brother in law, and niece decided to join us as well. It was a really busy 3 days but so worth it!

Here are some pictures of our ride out there. We stopped several times along the way to take pictures of anything we thought was cool. We were in no rush and wanted to make the most of it. I was so glad to be able to take some pictures of my own kids! There is so much I have to share with you but here is the beginning of our adventure…

If you’ve driven to Saskatchewan you already know that the drive will look something like these following images… 1. long, long stretches of flat roads 2. lots of dead bugs on your car and 3. cow bums

My soon to be 12 year old son is out to sabotage my images… always making a funny face

This is my 6 year old. He is my best poser. Always happy to stop for a picture!

I always feel so lucky when others trust me with capturing the important details of their lives. Nothing is as important as family. Welcoming your first baby is such a big deal and I was excited to meet with this amazing couple as they prepare for the birth of their first child. They have also asked me to be their birth photographer and be there with them as they welcome this little one into their lives. They are such a sweet and connected couple. Getting shots of them together and in love was effortless because they just had to be themselves!

This gorgeous mom is also an amazing indie rock artist. Not only does she write and sing, she also plays the piano and guitar. She is soo super talented. When I asked if she would like one of her songs played for their online gallery, her husband sent me one she had written. This is what he said about it- ”Here’s a song Kristina actually wrote exactly a year prior to our due date… Funny eh? Kristina wrote it after we had come to the realization that we were ready to start a family. It just happens that the day she mentions in the song is the due date now”.

This baby is so lucky to be coming into this world with two adoring parents who are madly in love with one another!

Do you remember a few posts back when I said that I believe in miracles? Well, here is one reason why. My amazing sister is about to give birth to a little baby boy! The events leading up to this point have been nothing short of miraculous and I am so excited to see her sweet family expanding. She is truly one of the most loving people I know. I had so much fun shooting her maternity session while we were on holidays this summer.

I can’t wait to meet this little guy!

I was so lucky to spend a day with a family I love dearly. We don’t get to see each other nearly as much as I’d like to but every time we are together it’s just like old times. Same jokes, same stories, same love. These kids are growing up right before my eyes. I was happy to capture their happy little faces.

There is something about photographing people that I just can’t get enough of. Babies, kids, couples, families… I love it all.

NOTE: If you are hoping to get your family photos done before Christmas, it is time to book your session! September and October are already filling up. I will be working minimally in November and not at all in December. Let’s get some awesome photos for you and your family and design some super cool Christmas cards! Yep, believe it or not it is time to start thinking about these things :) I will be reserving a day in October for some mini sessions so please email me if you’d like to be added to that list.
