Yep, I truly do. I have seen so many miracles in my own life this past year. I already shared with you the story of the birth of my twin niece and nephew right HERE. I had watched my brother and his wife try for years to have another baby- and then they had two. My sister in law always says they got a BOGO. (Buy One Get One… haha)
At the same time, I watched as my own sister and her husband tried to have another child. I think their 7 year old daughter has wanted it just about as much as they did.
I have prayed long and hard that my sister would be able to experience motherhood again. After raising me and my brothers through our teen years, I wanted her to experience the fun and beautiful side of being a mom again!
They began their journey with IVF. They hit a few roadblocks and had to stop the process. We were all feeling a little deflated and then the clinic called to say that they wanted her to come in and continue. She said from the beginning that she was going to give IVF one try. They got to the point where they were ready to harvest her eggs. Many people end up with dozens of eggs. She had ONE. One little egg. Most clinics would at this point not continue on. They offered to refund her money because the likelihood of this egg fertilizing and implanting was at about -200%. My sister knew this was her only chance so she asked if she could at least try. They consented and with that the egg was implanted. Because of previous problems, the implantation was not easy. It was painful as they pushed this little embryo through scar tissue and tried their hardest to place him in his home for the next 9 months. My sister had intense abdominal pain for the following 2 weeks and again, we prayed and prayed and prayed. As you can see, the rest is history. That little embryo did make it! One egg, one embryo, one baby. That to me is a miracle.
We knew that he would be delivered by C section but I wanted to be at the hospital with my sister for as long as I could. She came into the delivery room with me when I had my boys and was such a support to me. She ended up going into labour about a week before her scheduled C section. The doctor at the hospital made her experience labour for about 12 hours before they actually delivered the baby. Just to be sure it wasn’t false labour.
She was an absolute champ and my brother in law was a great support as usual. They are so special to me. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family.
Here are some images from that amazing night and a slideshow at the bottom.
