Nov 30: my family- tara whitney session

While we were in California in October I knew I could not pass up the chance to do a family session with the amazing Tara Whitney! In fact, I had been planning it for about two years :)

I met Tara a few years ago at a photography workshop. She was the guest speaker. I was already in love with her work before meeting her but actually getting to meet her “for real” sealed the deal for me! She is a completely beautiful and amazing person. Anyone who reads her blog or associates with her personally already knows this. I told her that I had just checked off something on my bucket list.

Getting to the session was quite another story. I had planned the outfits, the day leading up to the session so we wouldn’t be too tired etc. etc. etc. I should have known better. We got dressed and were one belt short so one of the boys kept having to pull his pants up the whole day. Two pairs of shoes were locked in another room we couldn’t get in to. The boys had nice sun burns. On the drive over to our meeting spot, Fraser fell asleep in the car and peed his pants. My fault. He told me he had to go as we were driving. Heath had a total melt down because he wanted a snow cone halfway through the session and then proceeded to melt down about the sand on his face once we got to the beach. Then, to top it all off the boys decided to pound on each other for a bit. Tara took it like a champ. She may have been dying on the inside but we couldn’t tell!

I could not have been happier with the results. All I see here is a family who loves each other. Who has fun together. Each image is perfect to me.

So, once again, thank you Tara. You are the greatest! You know how I feel ;)

My sister had ordered these moustaches for us before we left. The boys thought they were so much fun! Tara was a good sport and let us try them out for out session. I am going to put them in a shadow box and hang them by these pictures in our house.

Words cannot express how grateful I am that Tara took a few minutes to get pictures of me and my boys. These boys are my life. Being a mom and a photographer, I NEVER get pictures with them. These mean more to me than almost anything. I told my sister how happy I was that Tara did this and she said, “it is obvious how she feels about her kids by the images she got of you with yours.” Again, thank you Tara.

The one on the bottom left KILLS me. The look on his face is heaven to me. This little guy who usually has a full time job of tormenting me is also so adoring and kind. There is so much love in his little ocean sprayed face that I just melt every time  I look at it.
