Last weekend I attend the Wallflowers Retreat put on by Leah Zawadzki and Deb Schwedhelm. It was AMAZING!
There were so many wonderful people there and the accommodations were unbelievable. I got to stay in a room that was build in the early 1900’s. The food was so delicious. Most of it is grown on site.
We had some great discussions, a portfolio review, and were able to watch Deb and Leah shoot and edit. They gave so much of themselves throughout the process. They are both such talented and lovely ladies.
It helped me so much on my journey as I work to capture and create art that I am truly proud of.
This is where I stayed.
The sunset was unlike any I have ever seen before. The mountains were glowing the most beautiful pink colour!

We did this picture right before Christmas as a gift for my in-laws. We had done it a few years ago but needed to update it with the birth of seven new babies. As you can tell by the crying angel, it was FREEZING that day! We dressed the kids (thanks to auntie jenny) and hauled them out to this animal shelter that I had seen from the road. It was even complete with animal droppings.
I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on this past year over the last few weeks. I feel grateful for my blessings and the life that I am living. There are always challenges but I wouldn’t change my life for anything.
I’ve been able to see my family grow. I couldn’t be more grateful for my four (make that five) boys. They are so good to me. We’ve been able to go on some really fun holidays and spend time together at home. We’ve been able to ski quite a bit this Winter and I can seriously say that the three oldest can totally blow past me on the ski hill now! How did that happen so fast?
I’ve been able to see the miraculous birth of three new babies in the family. Two nephews and a niece. I could not be more grateful for their little lives.
I could recount each event but they are all posted here within my blog. Being in the delivery room for the birth of the twins, waiting outside the OR while Wallace was born, our family trip to Hawaii, a trip to DisneyLand with Grandma and Papa where we were able to have a family session with Tara Whitney and make some memories of our own!
My husband and I were even able to get away for the weekend and experience a Beloved session with Jesh De Rox. Truly a dream come true. I haven’t shared that session on my blog yet so here are a few images from that session.
Things have happened this past year that I didn’t know were even possible.
Thanks to so many of you who have played a part in making 2010 so amazing. I’m looking forward to see what lies ahead for 2011!
Love, Julie

I was so happy when NAPCP (National Association of Professional Child Photographers) contacted me to share one of my sessions with them on their blog. I love so many things they have to offer in their organization and was pleased to be a part of it.

It was a fun session to do. My oldest son had read the series of books at school about prohibition and the history of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. It was one of the neatest tours we have ever done! The kids got dressed up and we had a fantastic time! If you are ever in that area you have to do it! It was a neat way for my kids to learn and be a part of Canadian history. For more info on Moose Jaw and the tours, click HERE.
Thanks NAPCP. It was an honour to share on your blog :)
